Balarama Jayanti

The auspicious appearance day of Lord Balarama, the elder brother of Lord Sri Krishna, is celebrated on the full-moon day of Shravana (August).

The full moon day of Shravana (August) is dedicated to celebrating the fortunate appearance day of Lord Balarama, the elder brother of Lord Sri Krishna.

In appearance, Lord Balarama was the son of Vasudeva and Rohini.

He goes under the names Sankarshana and Baladeva as well.

He bestows to us the necessary spiritual fortitude to overcome the obstacles on our path to self-realization.

In order to obtain the spiritual strength required to live a spiritual life, devotees fast till noon and offer prayers to Lord Balarama.

The Deities in our temple have new garments and jewellery on.

The festivities get underway around 6:00 p.m.

An exquisite abhisheka is given to the utsava Deities of Krishna and Balarama. Baths are given to them in panchamrita (milk, yoghurt, ghee, honey, and sweet water), panchagavya (fruit juice), water infused with herbs (aushadis), and soft coconut water.

The devotees delight by singing the song Yashomati Nandana while a huge arati is done.

The Deities of Sri Sri Krishna Balarama are bathed in sanctified water from 108 Kalashas while the Purusha Sukta prayers are being chanted.

At the end of the abhisheka ceremony, the Deities are showered with various kinds of flowers.

To Their Lordships Sri Sri Krishna Balarama, a special offering (chappan bhog) consisting of 56 things is made.
